The Gift of Nothing

Oooooo sounds so mind boggling… Dramatic, doesn’t it? Well don’t cue up the Edgar Allen Poe organ music just yet. It’s very simple. Nothing. Everything comes out of nothing. People assign prices, values on stuff, objects – and even emotions. It’s a pity isn’t it. The best things in life are free ! Fresh air, sunshine, a conversation with a friend, or even a stranger ( but never talk to strangers – see advice is free too) unfortunately bad advice is costly – always remember that. What’s expensive is everything that is associated.

My favourite gift is something I discovered on FB. It’s there, but you may not recognize it on a busy day. When you scroll past posts and news feeds, suddenly you see it it could be a saying, something profound on a poster, a timely /timeless joke such as an inside joke you share with a friend or something that hits a nerve from 20 years ago. You see a video that reminds you of a long lost friend you found recently on FB or a hot topic that someone you know on FB has been championing. So you know what you do? You forward it to that persons wall. It’s like virtual commarodarie. For the most part there’s so much wrong in the world too much sadness that we all dwell on, cause guess what? We are all are human. Giving nothing is easy. You never know, it could be just the nothing of something that someone needed. It takes seconds yet it lets that person know you have a virtual and yet real place in their life. They have made an impact at some point enough that you’ve taken notice on what they are ‘all about’ . Everyone tries to etch out their own individuality in this world but at the same time they don’t want to be isolated or left alone. The beauty about someone recognizing who you are as a person (knowing your likes, dislikes, fears, hobbies, passions, obsessions, etc) shows the strength and admiration you’ve earned as a human being. It’s free. It’s a gift that keeps on giving and it may be nothing but chances are giving this virtual recognition has a far reachingaffect extending further  and becomes invaluable to that person.

About jnflamand

I love to write, in fact, my mind is a like a running tap most days! It's unfortunate that with having a crazy, busy life most original ideas are lost in the shuffle. However there are the few that get through, and as twisted as they are, they get my creative juices flowing. "What If....." has to be my favorite definitive statement, as it all starts from there. I like it as a starting point as I try to bend the concept and make my ideas believable. I write to make others 'Think'! www.jnflamand.com
